Hello Folks,

I am dismayed that some in BMDC think members are transphobic for wanting to protect biological women in their sports and access to restrooms, changing rooms and the like. I sent out video attachments featuring women in sports talking about the unfairness for them competing against trans women who have male biological advantages. Did you view the videos?

Caitlyn Jenner asserts that women should not compete with trans women due to the physical advantages trans women have in terms of size, strength and endurance. This is a biological fact. Many excellent women athletes from high school sports onwards are losing to trans women in sports. They are losing titles and scholarships. This is not fair to girls and women who were born female without question. There are physical differences that matter. This is a fact of life. This is not transphobic. I am not transphobic as I and others have been accused of by members in BMDC. Just because you do not like the facts or the reality of the matter does not mean that you have to accuse us of transphobia. That is a serious and slanderous accusation. It is also a means to silence folks who dare to speak out in support of preserving women's sports and safety.

Speaking of safety, in addition to losing sporting competitions to trans women due to their masculine physical advantages biological women are getting seriously hurt in competitions. The male body is larger, stronger and has greater endurance in comparison with excellent female athletes. This is a fact of life. It does not change because we wish it to change.

Yes, I care about the well-being, rights and opportunities for trans folks. They are free to live their lives the way they want. However, that does not mean destroying women's sports in unfair competitions for biological women. That does not mean making public restrooms and the like more unsafe for biological women. There must be other solutions than to force this agenda on biological females.

Attacking me and David K. is not the way to proceed. It is an unfair distraction. People are leaving BMDC. Constantly attacking us to shut us up is not going to work. It just diminishes the credibility of BMDC further.

Thanks for sharing the videos, Jane. With enough discussion, I think the left will go more toward public opinion, which is to allow all-female sports for the sake of fairness. The public also wants inclusion of trans people, and ways will have to be found to balance inclusion with competitive fairness.

I often think it is misogyny that causes people to want inclusion of women's sports team members who have gone through male puberty, building their bones and muscles. However, it is hard to judge people's motivations unless they confess to having bad motivations. Same with transphobia. Do I support all-female sports because of transphobia? It is hard to deny that every man has probably feared early in our lives that he was actually a girl, because boys are called "girl" or "sissy" all the time if they cry, show feelings, or like pretty things. I don't appreciate the word "transphobia" being used as a weapon.

I am optimistic for BMDC because it is needed and because we can learn from every experience. I include Lita and Mike as members who can learn.

Well said. We should support solutions that protect all women, cis and transgender not one over the other.
